Tuesday 1st August - bike *** - Short two rivers, Orwell to the Deben including a cuppa at Landguard – mainly cloudy.

With a dentist appointment mid morning and a visit to an old friend this afternoon Mag and I decided to get out early by biking to our usual spot at the old wooden jetty at Landguard with the flask. We left home at seven heading down to the prom but it was disappointingly cloudy with an Autumnal feel to the air so more clothes on than our last bike ride! It was nice and quiet along the prom and we made it to the River Orwell in time to see the Stenna ferry leaving, the very ship I windsurf foiled up to over the weekend at Parkstone Quay! After reading on Facebook that there had been some coal washed up, we keep our eyes open but didn’t see any, perhaps it had already been collected? The warming cuppa was very welcome as we sat on the sleepers and watched a tiny sailing boat motor out! We found seven little pieces of coal before heading back. Mag then returns home at Bent Hill while I continue to Felixstowe Ferry with very few people about. Not very inspiring at the Ferry today so headed for home for breakfast.
